CA Articleship Stipend Rates & ICAI Rules 2017 (KPMG Big 4)

Checkout the new rates of ICAI CA Articleship Stipend likely to be increased from early next year. We have also provided Articleship Stipend rules. Articleship rates are specified by ICAI based on population in a city. However, firms have choice to pay a stipend at much higher rates. Large firms like KPMG, Deloitte pay higher stipends (provided below) than mid sized firms. CA Articleship Stipend Rates 2018 (Proposed)

ICAI has categorised cities into three categories based on population census. These rates will replace the existing articleship stipend rates from 2018.

Stipend in Cities with Population above 25 lakhs

First Year of Articleship Rs.4,000
Second Year of Articleship Rs.4,500
Third Year of Articleship Rs.5,000

Stipend in Cities with Population 10-25 Lakhs

First Year of Articleship Rs.3,000
Second Year of Articleship Rs.3,500
Third Year of Articleship Rs.4,000

Stipend in Cities with Population below 10 lakhs

First Year of Articleship Rs.2,000
Second Year of Articleship Rs.2,500

CA Articleship Existing Stipend Rates

The stipend rates mentioned below are the ones currently in applicability. These rates will be replaced by the new rates specified above.

Rules for Articleship Transfer:

If the Student is opting for Transfer of Articleship in 2nd and 3rd years for any reason mentioned above other than Industrial Training, then he/she shall take a written approval from the Principal CA and also attach the required proof documents (Transfer form etc as mentioned above).

These two documents shall then be sent to the ICAI and after few days, ICAI will grant approval for that same.

After receiving approval from the ICAI, A fresh Form 109 shall be filed. Form 109 shall be signed by the old CA and the student.

Then the student need to fill the regular Articleship forms i.e., Form 102 and Form 103.

It is hereby duly noted that, Getting the Form 109 by the old Principal is of utmost importance and without which ICAI will not allow Articleship Registration with the new CA.

CA Articleship Stipend Increase Status

The decision to increase the current CA Articleship Stipend rates is in process for a very long time. There have been multiple suggestions and recommendations to increase the stipend as the current rates are not suitable for the increased cost of living in Indian cities.

The hike in CA Articleship stipend rates will likely be approved in late February and will become applicable likely from next May.
